I will quote the 2021/22 club strategy at Lewes FC

‘Lewes FC champions ethical, well governed, sustainable, and equitable football as a way to generate positive social and cultural change and create healthy, inclusive communities. We should not be seen as disruptors, but we are. We will use our voice and platform to promote football for good, as well as support others with their leadership and equality goals.’
Well, that is bullshit. Lewes FC does do a lot of the above, but it is meaningless unless you adhere to those principles. You cannot make bold claims if the first time someone waves a cheque book at you and tells you to break your principles you simply gutlessly comply.
To put into context Lewes FC have just received a £750,000 grant from the FA to lay a new pitch. One can only assume as part of the announcement of the funding one of the conditions of the grant is to wax lyrical about the glories of the utterly predictable Premier League whose compelling greed is helping to maim non-league football, teams like er….Lewes FC and have a long list of the FA ‘achievements’ neglecting the to mention for time immemorial they have been shite.
Do not get me wrong, if I ran Lewes FC and I obtained a £750,000 grant and I had to put a peg on my nose and wax lyrical about institutions I despise, the Premier League and FA, of course I would do it as most supporters would want me to do it. But there again I have not created the countries first near political football club, standing on the highest moral high ground in football and simply shat on everything I say I believe in.
I assume part of the deal was that it was conditional on Lewes FC taking the pieces of silver that they spout the FA line. Here’s what left wing, liberal trailblazers Lewes FC have so said about the league that harbours regimes complicit in mass murder and human rights abuses-
About the Premier League
The Premier League produces some of the most competitive and compelling football in the world. The League and its clubs use the power and popularity of the competition to inspire fans, communities, and partners in the UK and across the world. The Premier League brings people together from all backgrounds. It is a competition for everyone, everywhere and is available to watch in 880 million homes in 188 countries.’
Unbelievable.
A Premier League wrapped up in gambling promotion, with gushing press solicited by Project Lewes FC who campaign against gambling makes the current Lewes FC a total joke over this matter. An unprincipled experiment in hypocritical posturing.
In another piece of breath-taking arse licking the club, in a longer section, Lewes FC wax lyrical about the amazing achievements of the FA, an institution that is complicit in the industrial mis management of our great game and put attending matches out of the reach of huge swathes of fans who cannot afford it.
Only two months ago Lewes FC were superbly launching a brilliant campaign aimed at addressing the ridiculous unfair divvying out of FA Cup prize money. Quick turnaround in strategy!
You see Lewes FC want it both ways. It wants to market and brand itself as a great trail blazing force for good and ‘doing things differently’ to bring in sponsorship and membership, but in reality however it appears where the funding comes in from does not actually matter even if you shit on your own ideals. Kowtowing to everything that is wrong about football for funding that leaves grass roots football that feeds the game bereft of decent funding, when you are preaching the opposite, merely makes you a monument to industrial hypocrisy.
Do we really need a new pitch? Seemingly the improvement measures to be undertaken via the grant funding will improve the pitch. Does it need to be? No. Is it worth the pieces of silver. No
The pitch improvements mean the grass will be augmented by a cheating 5% of plastic grass. Wow, selling your soul for some sprigs of plastic. How hypocritical and unprincipled.
I have long maintained the current Project Lewes FC with it’s politically correct, woke and left wing agenda is cynical branding and what other conclusion could one reach?
