Revamping My Blog: Lessons Learned & The Road Ahead
A Fresh Start in Blogging
After a long break, I’m returning to blogging with renewed energy and purpose. Thanks to Dan, who recently built our e-commerce store, my blog is going to get a much-needed semi-professional overhaul.
One Blog or Two? The Dilemma
Previously, I debated whether to run two separate blogs, one focused on Lewes Football Club, my speciality, and another covering my other interests, including culture, general sports, current affairs, and life observations. I did start a second blog, but I quickly lost interest. The effort of managing two platforms, combined with launching a new website and running a growing business, led to the decline of my blogging motivation.
How AI Transformed My Blogging Journey
One of the biggest game-changers for me has been AI. Trying to navigate the overwhelming amount of blogging advice on YouTube and Google felt like a never-ending maze. AI has simplified this process significantly. Now, instead of sifting through unreliable information, I can quickly access quality insights. While AI isn’t perfect, I’d say it provides 95% of what I need compared to just 10% from traditional searches.
Merging Interests into One Blog
From an SEO perspective, running two niche blogs might make sense. However, I blog primarily for enjoyment, not just to gain traffic. With limited time but an active mind, I find writing relaxing and mentally stimulating. After researching, I’ve realized that while having a multi-topic blog isn’t ideal for search rankings, it offers versatility and engagement for readers. More importantly, I want my blog to be shaped by passion, not market trends.
Redesigning My Blog for Better User Experience
Dan is taking on the challenge of revamping my blog. At just 19, he did an incredible job with our e-commerce site, so I trust him to create a functional and user-friendly design. The goal is to organize my diverse content so readers can easily navigate different topics.
Building Momentum: Posting Daily
I’ve committed to writing at least one blog post per day. While my Lewes Football Club posts still attract significant traffic, my other topics are gaining slow but steady readership. AI sources suggest that with consistent quality content, I should expect to average around ten readers per post within three months.
What’s Next? Social Media & Growth Strategies
It has taken eight months to get here, and I’ve learned a lot. Now, with more time to focus on writing, I aim to develop a well-structured blog filled with engaging content. In my next post, I’ll dive into how I plan to leverage social media and other strategies to grow my audience.
Stay tuned—big changes are coming!
