My First Book Background: A Very Inauspicious Beginning.

If I’m going to write a blog about writing a book, I first need to explain the background, my meagre history in writing, the motivations, the book, the false starts, and the odd detours that got me here. Over the next coupe of weeks I will write half a dozen blogs so you can get to know about what I am doing and the sort of person I am, hopefully!

I certainly didn’t look like an aspiring writer in the making. I went to a crummy public school in the late ’70s and early ’80s, scraping out with two O-levels. Looking back at my failings, my struggles with concentration might now be described as sitting somewhere on the spectrum of mental health or learning conditions. Nothing extreme, but enough to make focusing difficult. Combine that with a school that believed the best way to teach grammar and writing was through practice, not explanation, and the result was a very underwhelming education…..please click here to read further, I explain why here-

I’m sharing this excerpt here because some of you may want to read it, and it can only be found via wordpress reader at the moment on my new ‘ The Novice Novelist’ blog, because I’m actively trying to garner interest in my new book. The full piece lives on the new blog, so I’m linking rather than pasting the whole thing to keep that site organised and build it up. This isn’t about gaming clicks, it’s simply the practical way to get you to the full post if you’re interested and hopefully follow my journey. If you do click through, thank you; that support genuinely helps me build my confidence and momentum for the book
